The difference, per Bark
Bark's deep cleaning guide, last updated 2 September 2025, says: "While a regular domestic clean maintains surface-level tidiness, a deep clean is a more extensive and detailed process." It lists overlooked areas a deep clean targets: oven interiors, the insides of appliances, door handles, light switches and wall sockets. We could not find a trade-body or consumer-group definition of the two, so this is one guide's account, not a standard.
What Bark's figures say
- Average deep clean: £250, with an average hourly rate of £20.
- Typical time: 6 to 12 hours.
- Per room: £25 to £35 for one to two hours.
Bark says price depends on the size of the property, its initial condition (a builders' clean costs more), pets and children, location, and the day or season. Those are Bark's own figures, for its own platform.
When people ask for one
- Before moving into a house you have bought or a rental you are about to take.
- After a house has stood empty or been lived in hard.
- Before a regular clean starts, so the regular clean begins from a clean baseline.
- In commercial premises, before a regular contract begins.
A note for tenants
