Two published UK guides put a domestic cleaner at roughly £13 to £25 an hour. Bark gives £15 to £25, typically £17. Housekeep, in May 2026, gives an average of £19 an hour or £57 a clean, and £14 to £16 an hour outside the big cities. What you pay depends mainly on where you live, how many hours the house needs, how often you book, and whether the cleaner brings supplies.

Housekeep also splits its figures by area. It gives £17.50 to £19.50 an hour in London and £14.00 to £16.00 for the "rest of the UK". Both are the guides' own figures, drawn from their own platforms, not independent surveys, and neither is a quote for any particular house.

How many hours the house needs
Housekeep says a three-bedroom home with two bathrooms typically needs about three hours. A bigger house, or one that has not been cleaned for a while, takes longer.
How often you book
Both guides say a regular weekly booking usually costs less per hour than a one-off.
Add-ons
Bark lists ovens, windows and carpets as extras, priced separately from the standard clean.
Who supplies the products, and who employs the cleaner
Bark notes some cleaners bring products and some ask you to provide them, and that independent cleaners tend to cost less than agencies. Housekeep puts agencies 10 to 15 per cent higher on average. Ask which applies before you compare two quotes.
