In short
Across Fenland district, 20.0 per cent of households rented privately at the 2021 census, the ONS says, against 20.5 per cent for England. Within Wisbech the picture is very uneven: 42.3 per cent of households in the Clarkson ward and 40.4 per cent in Medworth rent privately, against 12.7 per cent in Roman Bank. That concentration is where end of tenancy and between-tenants cleaning is most often needed.

Fenland as a whole
The Office for National Statistics reports that 20.0 per cent of Fenland households rented privately in 2021, up from 15.6 per cent in 2011. The rise was 4.3 percentage points against 3.5 in the East of England and 3.6 in England, where the figure is now 20.5 per cent. So Fenland is close to the national average, not unusual on its own.

What it means for cleaning
Rented homes change hands more often than owner-occupied ones, and each change is a check-out and a check-in. In the wards above 20 per cent, tenancy cleaning is a normal part of the housing market rather than a rarity. It is our reading of the figures, not something the census measures.
